About Domus Aurea
"Well! Finally I can start living as a human being!"
(said Nerone, entering for the first time in his Domus Aurea)
The Domus Aurea ("Casa Dorata" in Latin) was a large landscaped portico villa built by the Roman emperor Nerone. Designed to take advantage of artificially created landscapes Domus Aurea was built in the heart of ancient Rome, after the great fire in 64 AD it had cleared away the aristocratic dwellings on the slopes of the Palatine Hill. The Palatine Hill is one of the Seven Hills of Rome where you can find the most ancient part of the city.
