Basic Information:
The Museum of Castelvecchio in Verona is one of the most important museums of the city and one of the most interesting in Italy and Europe.
The Museum was founded by Antonio Avena in 1924 as a museum of Ancient and Medieval Art. Later in it was restored and furnished with the modern standards between 1958 and 1974 by Carlo Scarpa, and became one of the most complete and best preserved.
Museum of Castelvecchio is located within the fortress of La Scala di Castelvecchio, just close to Scaligero Bridge (Ponte Scaligero), distributing in about thirty rooms and related areas: sculpture, Italian and foreign paintings, ancient weapons, ceramics, jewelery, miniatures and ancient city bells.
