Piemonte surely is one of the most beautiful regions of Italy to see. Rich with history, castles, high mountains and spectacular views everywhere you go.

The main center of the region Torino is also world famous with the production of the Italian cars Fiat. Insisting more on the production of the cars in the past and not working so much for the tourism made to forget a little about all the beautiful places and castles in Piemonte. Luckily after the XX Winter Olympic Games in 2006 the things are going to change in Piemonte and it becomes more and more open for tourism.

Torino as all the area of Piemonte is full with beautiful well preserved castles. Just in the city of Torino you can find 5 of them (Royal Palace, Supiniggi, Venaria reale, Borgo Mediovalle, Castello della Regina) but there are many others not so far from Torino as the Summer Palace Racconigi, Castello di Aglie, Castello di Pralormo, Castello di Masino.

Surrounded almost from high Alps Piemonte gives you a good destination to go skying in the winter and to relax during the hot days down. There are everywhere tracking routes in the mountain going trough the beautiful crystal lakes and offering you unforgettable spectacular views like those in National Park Gran Paradiso. In the not so high part of the region you can go and visit the castles on the lake Lago Maggiore, especially one on the island Isola Bella. Or to go to the nearest lake Lago d'Orta and visit Isola San Giulio.

For pilgrims is good to know that in Piemonte is situated one of the tree monasteries for pilgrims that are remarkable in Europe. It is Sacra di San Michele monastery that is also the symbol of the region.
