He wants to give an esoteric meaning of the painting that Dan Brown has derived from previous books by Lynn Picknett and Clive Prince (Turin Shroud and The Templar Revelation).
According to Dan Brown the disciple of Jesus Christ at the right hand would be interpret, the complicity of the feminine features of the face, as a woman, with whom Leonardo wanted to be Mary Magdalene. This interpretation is functional to the plot of the novel. Some details in the narrative of the painting, such as the opposite color of the robes of Jesus and Mary Magdalene alleged, the absence of the one cup quoted in the New Testament (all the guests, including Jesus Christ, have a small glass beaker rodless ). The hand resting on the neck of the woman as alleged in a threatening gesture (Dan Brown said that the left hand of Peter "like a knife made the gesture of cutting woman's neck").
At the end the presence of one arm with the hand wielding a knife and it is said that this hand do not belong to anyone of the subject portrayed in the picture.
All these things are used to try to prove that Mary Magdalene was the possible lover of Jesus, a hypothesis rejected by the Church, as devoid of any evidence or foundation.
