One of the things that Italy is world famous is with its Leading Towel of Pisa and probably everybody of you would like to see and visit it. And yes, should not miss it. Being there you will discover that this place is one of the most marvelous places on the world.
According to the legend Pisa was founded by some mythical Trojan refugees grown on the Greek city called Pisa which was placed on these old time in the valley of the river Arno in the Peloponnese.
Of course the most important monuments of the city you will find on the famous Piazza del Duomo that is World Heritage - the marble Cathedral built between 1063 and 1118, in the Pisan Romanesque style, with the bronze door of San Ranieri of Bonanno Pisano and the pulpit by Giovanni Pisano. In the square stands the characteristic Leaning Tower, tower of the twelfth century, 56 meters high, which acquired its characteristic tilt ten years after the start of its construction, now one of the most famous Italian monuments in the world.
You should note there the presence of at least three leaning towers: one, the best known, precisely in the Piazza del Duomo, the second consisting of the church tower of St. Nicholas at the opposite end of Via Santa Maria, near the Lungarno, the third on the half way through the avenue of Piagge (river located in the east of the city) is the bell tower of the church of San Michele degli Scalzi (in this case the church is pending).
Pisa is also a home of three of the most important university and schools in Italy, the University of Pisa, the Scuola Normale Superiore and Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna and numerous research institutes.
What to see in Pisa?
Piazza dei Miracoli (Square of Miracles)
Of course you should start with Piazza del Duomo well known as Piazza dei Miracoli which is the main center of art and tourism of the city. You could stay there for a long time and just to admire the beauty and originality of the miracles there: the Cathedral, the Baptistery, the Monumental Cemetery and the the Leaning Tower of course. Everything made with white marble, the green earth down and the blue sky over - it is a spectacular view that surely you will remember for all your life. In 1987 the square was included between sites recognized by UNESCO as World Heritage.
Museo Nazionale di Palazzo Reale
Museo Nazionale di Palazzo Reale contains interesting collection of restored furniture and many important examples of the national daily life collections. Rare are the Medici tapestry works and the collection of armor (900 pieces, many of which are connected to the traditional "Gioco del Ponte").
Among the works there are paintings by Raffaello, Rosso Fiorentino, Bronzino e Antonio Canova.
How to go to Pisa?
Being in one very important crossroad from North Europe to Rome and to Firenze from the old times here passed Via Aurelia (Path Aurelia). This Path was very well constructed and was used for many centuries. In our days of course it is not used anymore as it was but still could be seen some signs in some places.
Pisa is easy reachable by Airplane, by Train, by Car or by Bus.
- By Air
Pisa hosts one very important airport in the region of Toscana, the "Galileo Galilei" Airport which also has direct intercontinental flights. The airport is situated on the sea coast and it is at about 1 km far from the center of Pisa.

As a second solution you could use also the Airport of Firenze (Florence) which is 80 km far from Pisa. From Firenze you could get the train, bus or car o taxi to Pisa.

- By Train
Pisa is easy reachable by Train from all Italy and from abroad. It could be a good solution if you wish to spend less money for moving. The train station is on the part south of the historical center of Pisa.

- By Car
For those who wishes to travel by car Pisa is easy to reach by the A12 (Autostrada Azzurra) highway. Nearby Piazza dei Miracoli there is one big parking for cars. There is another one bigger parking on the north-west of Piazza dei Miracoli.
If you wish to visit the historical center of Pisa there are another two parking there.
