About Castello di Racconigi
The Castle of Racconigi is situated not so far from Turin, in the small city of Racconigi, Piedmont, Italy.
The original nucleus dates back to the early eleventh century. Until the twelfth century Racconigi Castle was owned by the most powerful noble families of the area until it came to the Savoy, which made it one of the most popular royal summer residence. The castle was remodeled several times assuming the present form after the interventions eighteenth and nineteenth century who enlarged and ennobled the complex.
The castle interiors, cared for most of the architect Pelagius Palagi, in all their splendor in the many paintings, sculptures and rich furnishings. Remarkable is the Cabinet Etruscan, study and a representative office of the King Castle is located in the north west side of Racconigi and overlooks Piazza Carlo Alberto.
In this castle you could see one of the most good, well saved Royal Kitchen of the world that have one really big collection of cooking utensils and accessories. Don't miss to see it!
Magnificent 170 hectare park is designed by the landscape architect X. Kurten: inside, to the north, the living rooms Margarie or Verne, neo-gothic complex used as stables, greenhouses for plants and agricultural experiments.
The castle was used like a "Royal summer holidays" til 1946 during the stay of the sovereigns - usually in the period between August and September there were numerous celebrations in the City of Racconigi and it was not uncommon to see Vittorio Emanuele III, Umberto II, or the queen Helene also to come privately in Racconigi.
Today, the Summer Palace of the Savoy is part of Savoy Residences. It also is an UNESCO protected site.
It is a museum complex inserted in the circuit of the Savoy House, it is a home many cultural events and temporary exhibitions in nowadays.

From Tuesday to Sunday - 8:30 - 18:30
Closed on Monday.
Guided tours in group of max 25 people.
Park of Castle Racconigi
Open open from March 27 until November 6. Visits from Tuesday to Sunday and from 10 am to 7 pm (the ticket office closes one hour before the park does).
Closed on Monday.
Easter Sunday and Easter Monday usually the park remains open.
Be advised that the hours may vary, due to ongoing works and based on the weather. In the event of bad weather, the park may be closed without warning.
Free entrance for EU citizens under 18 and above 65 years of age, for teachers and students of the Faculty of Architecture, Letters and Philosophy.
