Sovereign Trullo
The most big trullo is called Sovereign Trullo. The Family Perta built in the mid-eighteenth century this two-story building which is a museum and you can visit the interiors tastefully decorated in a vintage reconstructed through the testimonies of older residents of Alberobello. During the summer the Sovereign Trullo hosts events such as theaters, concerts of small orchestras or jazz bands, evenings of culture and poetry.
The House Pezzolla
In a central district of the town between the Aia Piccola (Hague Small) and Piazza del Popolo stands the largest contiguous complex of trulli and communicating (fifteen) houses that can be visit in Alberobello, the oldest of which date back to the eighteenth century. This housing complex identified by the name of the last owners as House Pezzolla in 1986 was bought by the municipality of Alberobello and between 1993 and 1997 has been fully restored.
Overall trulli are two types of building fabric. A new one is notable in Piazza XXVII May with a monumental perspective effect spread over two floors with tall and narrow facade topped by a triangular pediment that highlights the section of the gable roof. The other fabric is the most ancient and monumental area influenced by the Aia Piccola (Hague Small).
Museums
Territory Museum
Housed in the complex of Casa Pezzolla it was born from the desire to preserve and tell the story of the territorial area of the trulli recognized by UNESCO in 1996 as the artistic heritage of world interest. The museum is designed as a container for the exhibition of tools, artifacts and evidence on the history, traditions and folklore of the territory of the Murgia, as well as being home to host temporary exhibitions of fine arts. The cultural program of the Museum is completed by the Documentation Centre Gianpiero De Santis - the official organ of the Department of Culture of Alberobello.
Ecomuseum
Ecomuseum of the Valle d'Itria was founded in 2010 together with the towns of Alberobello, Cisternino, Fasano, Locorotondo, Martina Franca and Monopoly.
Church of St. Anthony
Built between 1926 and 1927 on the top of the Monti district donated by a citizen to the priests Guanellians of Alberobello. The Church of St. Anthony reproduces the features of the houses in the neighborhood. On the top of the building with a form of a Greek cross you can see dome 21 meters high in the form of a trullo which integrates seamlessly with the surrounding buildings. The church was completely renovated in 2004.
Church of S.S. Medici Cosma and Damiano
In non historical part of Alberobello could be visited the Church of S.S. Medici Cosma e Damiano which are the patron saints of Alberobello. This is a trullo house on the grand scale which was furnished with period fittings. It forms has an interesting contrast to the smaller houses, it seems to be more comfortable to live in a small trullo.
Curiosity
Alberobello has been repeatedly chosen as the movie set, especially for the peculiarities of the trulli. Here they were made Italian movie Idillio Infantino between 1930 and 1931, Hungarian Women With No Name - the undesirable in 1950, Italian Le Bande in 2005, Indian movie Siddharth Anand in 2008, Italian Il sottile fascino del peccato in 2008, and in 2010 the beautiful comedy with Checco Zalone Che bella giornata.
